The streaming hub Twitch.tv has had great success with allowing players to watch other players play. It is said that “over 23 million” viewers tune in each month to see tournaments, high profile players, and people fall asleep in their chairs during marathons. It’s all free, of course, but those who want a little more can subscribe to the newly launched Twitch Turbo plan, which is phasing out commercials and offering viewers additional chat perks for $ 9 a month.

Twitch turbo users get a custom icon set and “enhanced chat colors” for that extra flair. So instead of saying “Nice shot”, you might now be able to say, “Nice shot”. Brings me back to my multichromatic Quake III days.
